Around three weeks ago, a fan sent us 5 ayam cemani fertile chicken eggs and also 5 cream legbar hatching eggs, and this week, these little chicks hatched. We are super excited about the ayam cemani chicks, and these all black chicks are just something to see, and we cannot wait for to see what they look like as they get older.
Cog Hill Farm
About 2 years ago we bought a 1969 Airstream International Land Yacht from a hunting club, and we had started on its renovation but then life happened and we got pulled away from this project, but we are now back on getting this classic camper back to where we can go on lots of family camping trips. Today we are going to try and remove the airstream's shell or body from the trailer - frame, and the way we are going got try doing this is by building a frame structure inside the airstream camper, and then cutting the bolts a loose from the shell and trailer. The next step will be us taking some jacks and jack stands and jacking up the interior frame we just built, and once we get the shell high enough, we will drive the trailer from underneath the airstream body, and then support the shell on concrete blocks. The trailer will be free from the shell and we can get all the work that needs to be done the airstream trailer, like welding, and the grey tank, and the sub floor, and rust protection, and the belly pan, axles, & insulation etc.
So it is getting super close to time for the ayam cemani eggs to hatch here on the homestead. So before we move them into the hatcher and put them on lock down, we want to candle them to make sure they are fertile. And also we have some other rare and unique hatching eggs as well in the incubator, and they are cream legbar chickens, which lay those beautiful blue eggs, and also red golden pheasants, which do not even look real they are so beautiful! Evenin time rolls around, which makes an ideal time to check and candle your hatching eggs, and out of 5 ayama cemani eggs, 3 were fertile, 4 out of 5 cream legbar eggs were fertile, and 8 out of 9 red golden pheasants were fertile! Needless to say that MC is super stoked about the new family members that are about to hatch here on the farm!!
